"But God did not give us a Spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control."
2 Timothy 1:7
Power In Christ
There is a power in Christ not only to calm the seas but also to calm the storms of the human heart, to mend the hurt of broken and defeated souls.
There is a power in Christ to assume the obligation of our sins, for we cannot remit our own sins any more than resurrect ourselves. We are, truly, saved by the grace of our God
When we are contaminated by sin and enveloped in the spiritual darkness which follows transgression, it is often hard for us to see how to disentangle ourselves. And even when we are brought to see the way of life and truth, we may find it difficult to follow. The fact that we have lost virtue may evidence a weakness of character, making it hard for us to apply the principles by which we can regain innocence and acquire spiritual strength. Nevertheless, the pangs of guilt and remorse of conscience which sinners feel may awaken in us a desire for righteousness and with a new determination to do right, coupled with the mercy and power which God extends to those who truly desire to come unto Him, we can be renewed to a state of purity and power in Christ.
We must learn to trust in him more. We must learn to rely on him more. We must learn to surrender our burdens to him more. We must learn and work to our limits and then be willing to seek that grace or enabling power which will make up the difference, that sacred power which indeed makes all the difference!
